A new RCP Cymru Wales report highlights the importance of training doctors locally in north Wales as a solution to the workforce crisis.
In internal medical training prior to passing MRCP(UK) are eligible for associate membership. Once you have passed MRCP(UK) you are eligible for collegiate membership.
As a doctor in specialty training, you are eligible for collegiate membership.
SAS doctors who hold the MRCP(UK) qualification are eligible for collegiate membership. SAS doctors without MRCP(UK) are eligible for associate membership.
Specialty and associate specialist (SAS) doctors form a significant part of the physician workforce but have historically been poorly represented in the RCP.
Published in February 2022, the SAS doctor strategy 2022–24 aims to address this and sets out how the RCP will ensure SAS doctors are treated equitably within the RCP; are offered tailored opportunities that recognise their unique contributions to healthcare settings; and are provided with a platform to develop fulfilling careers.

Wellbeing of Women-Royal College of Physicians Partnership Entry Level Scholarships (ELS) provide single candidates with up to £20,000 for up to 12 months. However, we will consider requests for a longer duration with justification. Funds are for directly incurred research costs and may include a salary contribution. Applicants must be members of the RCP, and research undertaken in the UK.
These awards will fund pre-doctoral physicians in projects aimed to improve outcomes for women, girls and babies related to a woman’s reproductive and gynaecological health.
