Clinical transformation is one of the RCP’s three campaigning pillars.
The NHS must adapt to meet growing demand, changing patient needs and rapid technological advances. The RCP is working to ensure that reform is clinically led, digitally enabled and focused on delivering better care for patients.
Physician expertise must be at the heart of NHS transformation, whether that's neighbourhood healthcare, digital innovation, AI adoption, sustainability or tackling pressures on frontline services.
What we're doing
We are campaigning for:
- safe, effective and interoperable digital and AI solutions that solve real clinical problems
- greater physician involvement in neighbourhood health services and service redesign
- a more integrated public health system
- action to tackle corridor care and improve patient flow
- an NHS that can meet its sustainability and net zero commitments.
Through our work on digital health and AI, we continue to make the case for stronger digital foundations, patient safety and sensible regulation. We are also ensuring that specialist physicians play a central role in neighbourhood healthcare and wider NHS reform.
Alongside this, we are highlighting the reality of pressures facing NHS staff through member engagement and snapshot surveys. Our campaigning helped secure the first national publication of corridor care data in England, providing important evidence to drive change.
